Ballard County Kentucky
Ballard County was formed in 1842 from parts of Hickman and McCracken Counties. It is located in the Jackson Purchase region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 285 to 495 feet above sea level. The county population as of 1990 was 8080. The land area is 251 square miles giving a population density of 32 people per square mile. The original county seat was Blandville, but moved to the present site of Wickliffe in 1882. Other cities in Ballard County include Bandana, Barlow, Kevil, La Center, Monkey's Eyebrow, and Needmore.
