The meeting location is in Wickliffe at the Ballard-Carlisle-Livingston Public Library building at 132 North 4th.

Members and quests are always welcome and are encouraged to attend. Come join the fun!!!!

The Library is open  Thursday - 10:00 am - 3:00  pm..  Friday hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Library closings generally are:  If visiting from areas outside of Ballard or Carlisle call 270-335-5059 to confirm.

A Society member is present in the genealogy section of the library on Friday during library hours for assistance if needed.  On  Thursday you may research on your own and the library personnel will assist when possible. Printing microfilm readers and a copy machine are available for researchers to use at a nominal cost.

Requests for research will be honored and minimal research will be done at a nominal cost.  As volunteers, we cannot comply with research requests requiring detailed research or large amounts of copying.

The Society is one of the very few who have all presently released Kentucky Death Certificates on Microfilm. Starting with 1911 (the first year official records were required) the Society adds new records yearly when released by the State Vital Statistics Department.  Copies may be obtained in person at the library.  If requested by mail/email and the requestor furnishes the name, date of death and the certificate number (this information may be obtained by linking to http://ukcc.uky.edu/~vitalrec/ and searching in the Kentucky Death Index for 1911-1986), the process is made considerably easier and results in faster response. Large numbers of requests cannot be honored. A nominal fee is charged to cover copying and postage.

History and Memories of Carlisle County by Ran Graves, a "must have" for all who have ties to Carlisle County.  Mr. Graves was the owner/editor of the Carlisle County News and recognized a need for a history of Carlisle County.  Contains his recollections of early settlers; settlement of the various communities in the county, first residents, businesses and place in county history.  As a “survivor” of the historic 1917 tornado through Bardwell he gives his account of what happened, along with several pictures of the damage.  Many stories of Carlisle County not found anywhere else.   82 pages this book is reasonably priced at $10.00 (US).
